Play
scheme
Our Playscheme for 6-12 year olds living in Tower Hamlets provides arts and education activities for children during their summer holidays
Children in Tower Hamlets face the worse level of child poverty in the whole country. For many this means few provisions for out of school activities other than video games and junk food.
Our Playscheme has been running in and around the Locksley Estate for over 9 years during school holidays providing arts and education activities to build childrens’ confidence and engagement with their community. Activities are usually based around a theme exploring issues relevant to children living in London today. Some of these include litter and the environment, youth social action, citizen journalism, and protest.

Tower Hamlets has the highest level of child and pensioner poverty in London and the UK.
“My child has grown in confidence by being able to play and communicate better with other children. Her social development has improved beyond recognition. She puts her excess energy to good use at the club instead of doing negative things.”
